Join us next tonightfor Quick Rated play at our new location:
Panera Bread at 9810 Baymeadows Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32256 from 6:30 until 10pm.

The area's longest running weekly rated event starts in a new location next week. This series began in July 2015 in Orange Park and then to Mandarin. However, we continue to find that players who attend the most are traveling farthest.

We are moving to Baymeadows/Southside

Panera Bread at 9810 Baymeadows Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32256

We hope the location works for more people and maybe some new ones. We know the food is going to be way better!

All players are welcome, but must have non-expired USCF ID# (www.uschess.org) to participate in the mini-tournament.

JAXCC Chess Development Program for club members

Our program is one of the best for developing solid beginner to intermediate level youth players. Last semester we had 55 kids enrolled and ended with a 40 player tournament. Our goal is to present chess in a way that creates a love for the game and skills improvement in ever player. Along the way, many of them become "chess buds" who socialize and get together away from chess. Our US Chess Certified instructors are great with kids and are tournament players themselves. Our kids continue to astound us with winning performances at local, state and national tournaments. See images from last month's National Tournament

Come join us. Space is limited.

When: Sundays @ 1:30 – 4 pm (we start on time and finish all activity)

Location: 6233 San Jose Blvd. San Jose Church of Christ

Lead instructor: Kevin Pryor (904) 607-9111 jaxchessclub@gmail.com

This will be our last meeting in this location, Starbucks on Rickey Road across from Mandarin Publix. We have two possible new locations both in the Southside/Baymeadows area as most of the regular players are not coming out of Mandarin. We will continue to adjust in hopes of finding the right balance. This has been Jacksonville's only weeknight rated play since 2015. We hope the new location will bring out more players.

If you have another location where you want to start playing, please email us at jaxchessclub@gmail.com.

Parents/Members/Coaches/Friends,
After finding out about our work with on our QUEEN'S CUP CHALLENGE- our all girls/women event (and a few key cancellations), US Chess Women's Committee Chair has asked JAXCC to support the 2017 Girl's Room at Nationals this Friday-Sunday.  I accepted on our behalf.
The room is for girls, their parents, coaches and family to stop by and play relax, analyze games, paint nails and socialize between games.
We will get to spend time with two excellent chess players who will be in the room to support girls - Women's International Master (WIM) Carolina Blanco & the current U.S. Champion Sabina Foisor, a Womens Grandmaster (WGM). Be right there as the analyze games or teach the people in the room over the 3 days. Few people get this kind of access, especially to the current US Champion.

We're asking for people who will volunteer one or two rounds  coverage in the Girls Club Room on Saturday or Sunday.  Friday is filled already.  We also need people to rotate coverage at the Women's Chess table near Chess.com's table.

Please send a response if you are open to donating a round or two to help on the biggest stage ever.
