Now in our 4th year, our Sunday training program is for youth members of the Jacksonville Chess Club. It has shown itself to be outstanding for preparing kids to the best chess players in North Florida and beyond. New student prices are higher to ensure we equip them with the resources proven to jumpstart their learning and love of the game. Our coaches are tournament level players or long time chess teachers with years of working with kids. Our program leader inspires students to excel at chess, school and life. Just as important as learning chess, our kids end up being friends and often are the friendly faces found at local, state or national events. Come join us. Spaced is limited. JAN13 & 27 FEB10 & 24 MAR10, 24 & 31 APR14

Five seperate levels with their own instructor:

Starters: Learn the moves and basic rules of play. Plays full games and competing before semester is complete. 

Beginners1:Works on basic checkmates and rules of chess. Can play full games. 

Beginners2: Continues to work on basic checkmates and rules of chess. Can play full games. 

Intermediate: Players with tournament experience between 400-700 USCF needing tactical/positional development and blunder proofing

Advanced: Experienced tournament players ~800 USCF. Emphasis heavy on tactics and game situations.

8 Double SS (16  5-minute games) G/5min + d0 sec (each player has 5 minutes - no  delay). Double Swiss means you play the same person twice - alternating between Black and White pieces for a single "round."

USCF Blitz Rules Apply: Chapter 11 in 6th edition Rules of Chess

EF: $25 .  JAXCC Members receive discounted price  $5 off .

Registration:  ONSITE Cash or check only accepted the morning of the event  or  Online Registration Click Here is currently open . Walk-up Registration Price Increase: +$10.  Expired USCF registration can be renewed on site by check,  cash or  CREDIT CARDS on site at increased price.

BYE: 1/2 point bye available for rounds (limit 2) for registered players, must commit before Rd 2. Non-registered late arrivals will be given 0 point byes for missed rounds. No admissions after round 2.

Hotel Issue!!!!  The prices for hotels are outrageous as it is Florida/Georgia weekend and are near $300 night at this location. Our apologies.

Single Event Registration for one adult player is $40 online & $25 for Scholastic Section.

Open tournament with 3 sections and over $1000 in prize money (b/o 40 entries). OPEN & U1500 All 5 rounds are G/45;d5 (dual rated). Under prizes in every section. Registration closes at 9:40. Time: Registration 9:00 am - 9:30 am

Start Rounds: (1)10:00 am, (2)11:30 pm, (3)1:45 pm, (4)3:15 pm, (5)4:45 pm. (min breaks between Rds.) Lunch: 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm Ends: 6:30 pm SCHOLASTIC ONLY SECTION U800: 4 Rounds of G/30;d5. Awards for Top 5 finishers. Round 1 starts at 10 am and 15 minutes between subsequent rounds. Event is over by 2 pm.

Intermediate: Players with some tournament experience between 400-700 USCF needing tactical/positional development and blunder proofing

Advanced: Experienced tournament players ~750 USCF. Emphasis heavy on tactics and game situations.
