JAXCC Chess Skills Development Program
Eight-Week Training Program
These classes are for the developing chess player. Most lessons will end with competitive play between students or instructors to allow practical use of newly acquired knowledge. +1 hour of contact time to focus on Basics, Tactics, Endgames, Rules, Openings, and tournament play intended to develop and deepen chess knowledge. Most students in our program see marked improvement when competing against players from other clubs/programs and at local, regional, state or national events.
Two levels based upon U.S.C.F. rating at start of semester
- Beginners: 1:30pm - All Unrated and beginners (under 400 USCF)
- Players new to chess will be expected to complete considerable homework to learn basic moves between classes
- Post-beginner: 2:30pm - 400 USCF Rated to around 1000 USCF
When: Sundays @ 1:30 – 4 pm (see start times above)
Location: 6233 San Jose Blvd. San Jose Church of Christ (small chapel)

Primary instructor: Kevin Pryor, USCF Certified Instructor Level II & USCF Local Tournament Director. Peak USCF Ratings: Reg. 1365 / Quick 1503

JAN 8, 22 FEB 5, 19, 26 MAR 5, 26 APR 9
Two levels based upon ability at start of training:
Beginners (players who already know how to move pieces): All Unrated and beginners and are USCF rated below 400
Post-beginners: Players between 500 USCF and Under 1000 USCF with competition experience

Cost:
$15 Annual Scholastic USCF Fee (not required if expiration is outside of semester)
$80 for JAXCC club members / $100 for Non-members
